Silver Pigeon's Chat and Trivia Trainer

Faces First

When making faces, tilt your head to the left and you'll see what the other person means.

Symbol Meaning Example
:-) Smiling Face "yay! I won a round of trivia! :-)"
:) Smiling Face same as above, without the nose :)
;-) Winking Face "I won, but it was a guess ;-)"
:-| 50-50 Face "you can marked my answer wrong, but I still think i'm right :-|"
:-( Sad Face "I lost, wot a surprise :-("
>:-( Frowning Face "Hey Host!! i'm taking you to the trivia tribunal!! >:-(

There are a million more of these things, but you get the idea :)

Anyone you see going past ROFLMAOPMP is just being a show-off <WEG>

Trivia Lingo!!

Ok, time for the other terms and trivia lingo you will see while playing games - these are mostly abbreviations of full words :)

Term Meaning
{{{name}}} You are hugging the person called "name" :)
afk, AFK Away From Keyboard
bbs, BBS Be Back Soon
brb, BRB Be Right Back
btw, BTW By The Way
ltns, LTNS Long Time No See
omg, OMG Oh My God
wd, WD Well Done
vwd, VWD Very Well Done
wtg, WTG Way To Go
j/k, J/K Just Kidding :)
bugga Aussie/NZ slang for "oh dear! I didn't do at all well on that question"
lem, LEM To copy another person's answer (derived from the Lemmings, creatures that would follow a leader over a cliff if that is where the leader is going <g>)
Poinks Slang for "Points", the score you get when playing a Trivia Game :)
Boners Slang for Bonus - it just sounds more risque ;) e.g. "Nice BONERS you got for that question!"
Hat, Hat Trick If a player gets 3 questions right first, in a row, they get BONERS POINKS (Hat Trick derives from the Cricket term for dismissing 3 batsmen in a row <g> - what??? You don't know how to play Cricket??? Look it up on Yahoo or something <weg>)
Hunker To defend against a player about to get a HAT TRICK, you can Hunker. See the Guide to Happy Hunkering for step-by-step details ;)
Probe Sounds awful, doesn't it? Its the trivia question that the Host asks :) It doesn't hurt too much normally <eg>
BrainDrain!!! You'll hear this call made by "rabble-rousers" (j/k) and "sticklers for accuracy" (still j/k) when they believe a Host has got the answer to a question wrong, and their answer is right :) What you can do is, you can take your beef to BrainDrain - there you will see Peter (but he REALLY likes it when you call him Judge Judy) who can help resolve the issue and restore any POINKS you may be owed <g>. Just remember - this is still meant to be FUN :)))
Bing This is your answer when you do not know the right one, and you don't want to LEM - it will get you a measly 5 POINKS usually (derived from Bing Crosby, UltraMaroon knows why, ask him <g>)
Bag Oh, now, this is a heinous (get a dictionary <eg>) act!! When you know the right answer to a question, and when everyone else has either answered incorrectly or BINGed, you put in the correct answer so that no-one gets the chance to LEM you. This way you get BONERS POINKS for being the only correct answer!! Shamefull!!! <weg>
